Chuhak & Tecson attorneys win three appeals in one day

On June 29, the Illinois Appellate Court for the First District entered decisions in favor of Chuhak & Tecson clients resulting in wins on three separate cases.

Principals Carri A. Conlon and Daniel J. Fumagalli, members of the Litigation group, succeeded when the defendant unsuccessfully tried to vacate a default judgment that was obtained against him.

The Estate & Trust Administration & Litigation group also received favorable opinions in two trust cases. The first case, handled by Mark E. Broaddus, Sanjay Shivpuri and Mitchell D. Weinstein, revised a trial court’s finding regarding the funding of a family trust with zero-value assets. The second case, represented by Broaddus, Shivpuri and Molly A. Ward, affirmed that the trustee would remain after repeated efforts to get her removed. Both of these decisions upheld the settlors’ intents for their trusts and were great successes for the legal teams.

“Three victories from the Appellate Court for a single firm in one day is remarkable,” said Andy Tecson, president of the firm. “Each win was a team effort and a testament to our collaborative firm environment.”
