Jeanne Kerkstra, CPA, is a Principal of Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. and Certified Public Accountant. Jeanne conducts mortgage fraud analysis, including structuring the processes to utilize and evaluating the targets (e.g., potential defendants) for both culpability and recovery sources.
She conducts forensic work to unwind fraudulent asset protection structures, including tax-return analysis and the credibility of asset encumbrances. Jeanne also has extensive experience analyzing tax controversies, including abusive tax shelters, and D&O issues, including breach of fiduciary duty.
Jeanne also advises a wide range of closely held businesses on critical business and financial issues, including wealth preservation, asset protection, estate and trust planning, business succession planning, and taxation that minimizes the risk of creditor attack yet maximizes transition to younger generations and key employees. While Jeanne has extensive experience with such business structures as family limited partnerships with corporate general partners and multi-series limited liability companies, she offers her clients more than one-size-fits-all solutions. Her advice, and the structures she assists her clients in implementing, are unique to her clients' goals, and take into account their financial, psychological and emotional considerations, as well as business and tax issues.
Jeanne also has extensive experience helping her clients with other business law issues, including mergers and acquisitions through asset purchase, stock purchase and shareholder buy-sell agreements, as well as employment and independent contractor agreements. As a Certified Public Accountant, as well as an Attorney, Jeanne is uniquely qualified to advise her clients in business and financial issues, including due diligence relating to mergers and acquisitions, analysis of financial statements, and real estate and business sales.
Jeanne is the author of Jeanne's Viewpoint, a client newsletter that addresses hot tax topics affecting individuals and businesses as well as strategies for success—from simple estate planning (overlooked by many in their busy lives) to tax structures (including those challenged by the Internal Revenue Service). Jeanne has presented numerous seminars on wealth preservation and asset protection, estate planning and forensic accounting.
