Whether it’s handling a discrete matter on their behalf or counseling them through every stage of a transaction, Josh always views his projects as opportunities to collaborate together with his clients to help them grow and thrive.
As an associate in both the firm’s Real Estate and Corporate Transactions & Business Law practice groups, Josh focuses his practice on commercial and industrial real estate transactions. He also has represented non-profit and for-profit entities in various aspects of business formation, including drafting articles of incorporation and bylaws as well as registering non-profit corporations as charitable organizations. He has gained invaluable experience counseling clients in a variety of complex matters, including the following:
- Advised a wholesale food distribution company on securing development and rehabilitation tax incentives related to the purchase of a 91,000 square foot office, warehousing and distribution center
- Successfully litigated tax assessments for residential, multifamily, condominium and commercial properties at state and local levels, resulting in significant reductions in tax burdens $10,000+.
- Supported the purchase of a 500,000 square foot industrial land site by a global commercial real estate investment firm through forecasting property tax liability scenarios resulting from the acquisition, demolition, construction and leasing of new office and warehousing developments in Chicago.
Josh believes client service is being a reliable and trustworthy problem solver. As an active member of both the Chicago and Illinois State Bar Associations, Josh utilizes all of their available resources to keep his finger on the pulse of the latest legal developments. He also appreciates any opportunity to connect with his colleagues across a variety of fields, who never fail to provide him with new perspectives and ideas of what is happening in their respective spaces.
When Josh is not in the office, he loves exploring the ever-changing restaurant scene in Chicago. He is an avid runner, having completed seven marathons, and has plans to participate in many future races. During the NCAA football and basketball seasons, Josh can be found cheering on the Michigan State Spartans.
