Kristen Hudson among top lawyers in Illinois

Chuhak & Tecson, P.C., is proud to announce that principal and general counsel Kristen E. Hudson has been chosen by Super Lawyers Magazine for 2020 as one of their Top 50 Women Lawyers and as a Top 100 Illinois Lawyer. These are annual honors afforded to the state’s best attorneys, designated as such through a combination of peer evaluations and personal achievements.

Hudson is a commercial litigator and serves as general counsel for Chuhak & Tecson. She concentrates her practice litigating disputes for businesses and business people. She manages risk and complex commercial litigation in substantive areas including contract disputes, business torts, fraud, the protection of trade secrets and intellectual property rights. She is a sought-after trial lawyer known for effectively advancing her clients’ interests inside and outside the courtroom. She has extensive experience in state and federal courts and appellate courts nationwide and has handled disputes a variety in arbitral forums. Hudson also advises clients on commercial insurance policies including directors and officers liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, general commercial liability, cyber policies and first-party policies.

The commitment Hudson brings to her clients is matched by her dedication to serving the community, mentoring young lawyers and championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace. She’s received awards such as the American Bar Association’s 2019 100 Women Who Inspire Us, Crain’s Chicago’s 2019 Notable Gen X Leader, Crain’s Chicago’s 2018 Notable Woman Lawyers, the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law’s 2018 Inspiration Award, Super Lawyers Magazine’s 2017 Top 50 Women Lawyer, the Chicago Bar Association Alliance for Woman’s 2016 Alta May Hulett Award and the 2014 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch by Law Bulletin.

Since law school, she committed countless hours to Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) to ensure that low-income Chicagoans received quality legal representation. Having begun her association there as a graduate fellow with the Public Interest Law Initiative, Hudson served for eight years on CVLS’s board of directors, including as its president and president ex-officio. In 2019, she was elected to CVLS's advisory board. Also during 2019, she was elected to the Cook County Assembly for the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), which is the supreme policy making body of the association, and she also serves on the ISBA's Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Council.

In addition, Hudson is an adjunct professor at UIC John Marshall Law School, where she teaches International Means of Dispute Resolution, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Counseling and Negotiation. She is also co-coach of the school’s William C. Vis International Moot Arbitration team and travels each year with the team in competition in Vienna. Austria or Hong Kong, China. She also volunteers to serve as an arbitrator for the competition.
