Kristen Hudson among top women lawyers in Illinois

Chuhak & Tecson, P.C., is proud to announce that principal Kristen E. Hudson has been chosen by Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Illinois for 2017. This is an annual honor afforded to the state’s best attorneys, designated as such through a combination of peer evaluations and personal achievements.

Hudson is a commercial litigator and serves as general counsel for Chuhak & Tecson. With her practice focused mainly on complex commercial litigation, Hudson has prevailed in high-stakes cases in courtrooms at state, federal and appellate levels. She represents businesses and business people in contract disputes, business torts, fraud, intellectual property rights and other complex commercial matters.

Hudson also represents commercial insurance policyholders in coverage disputes against insurance companies, and her practice in this area includes counseling, negotiating, and if necessary, litigation to help her policyholder clients get the benefit of their bargain. She has successfully recovered tens of millions of dollars in policy proceeds on their behalf.

Hudson is active in the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law serving as a delegate, Board Member and co-chair of the Community Outreach Committee. Best Lawyers is recognizing her commitment to this organization with a nomination for the 2017 “Women of Influence” Awards that will be featured in its upcoming publication.

She has also been honored for excellence in the legal profession and her commitment to providing pro bono legal services. Hudson has been a volunteer with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services her entire legal career, starting in law school, and now serves on the Board of Directors as the immediate past President. In December 2016, Hudson was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni by the Public Interest Law Initiative for her consistent commitment to pro bono work.

In addition, in 2016, Hudson received the Chicago Bar Association’s prestigious Alta Mae Hulett Award, recognizing her contributions to the advancement of women in the legal profession. Law Bulletin Publishing Company also chose her as an Emerging Lawyer and one of 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch in 2014.

“This recognition is well deserved for many reasons,” said Steve Wood, leader of the firm’s litigation practice group. “Kristen is not only a superb advocate, but she is also a professional in every sense of the word. She pursues client objectives strategically and zealously, yet always treats opponents with courtesy and respect. As a selfless teammate, she is a joy to work with.  We are fortunate and proud to have her as a member of this firm.”
