Chuhak & Tecson attorneys and staff participate in Lawyers in the Classroom Program

Several Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. attorneys and staff will be participating in the LEARN Charter School Network’s second annual Lawyers in the Classroom Program during the 2017-2018 academic school year. This is an effort by Chuhak & Tecson’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, in keeping with the firm’s 30th anniversary theme in 2017—educating audiences on a wide-ranging variety of legal topics.

The program is designed to teach elementary school students about the legal system along with how to think critically about a variety of legal issues; it will also explain the different career paths in the legal field. Attorneys and staff will be trained to lead interactive sessions with students and will then be paired with social studies teachers to create an authentic learning atmosphere for education concerning rights and responsibilities under the law.

LEARN Charter School Network consists of 10 elementary schools serving over 4,000 child scholars with strong academic results and it has proven methods that meet the needs of the whole child: physically, emotionally and spiritually. LEARN Charter School partnered with The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms and the Constitutional Rights Foundation to hold the program at the LEARN South Chicago Campus last year and it resulted in a huge success leading to its approval and support to continue in this 2017-2018 school term.

The first session will be held Oct. 3, 2017; Principal Jeralyn Baran and Associate Adam Beattie will be participating along with Docket Manager Greg Jones, Law Clerk Ariana Maloney and Corporate Paralegal Maria Kenigsberg. Paralegal Kerri-Ellen Kelly and Legal Secretaries Jama Emerson and Phoebe Bindiger will be participating in the following two sessions taking place March 6 and April 24, 2018.
