April 29, 2019

Along with thousands of volunteers throughout Chicagoland, employees of Chuhak & Tecson “Shook the Merc” on Friday, April 26, for Candy Days, a two-day fundraiser that benefits Misericordia, a not for profit organization dedicated to providing a community of support and care to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Donning signature aprons, employees stuffed jellybeans in their pockets, grabbed a can and hit the streets around Chuhak & Tecson’s offices in the Mercantile Exchange Building to Shake the Merc. Jelly Belly candy was handed out with each donation.

Misericordia serves more than 600 children and adults at its campus in Rogers Park, plus hundreds more through outreach programs. It provides a wide range of programs to meet residents’ diverse needs, including day-to-day support, physical and speech therapy, and job training. Candy Days is but one annual event held by Misericordia to raise $20 million to bridge the gap in funding.

Two of Chuhak & Tecson’s community service channels partnered for Shake the MercWomen Helping Women and FunFitnessFilanthropy.

Women Helping Women, launched by Chuhak & Tecson’s women attorneys in 2009 to integrate business development with philanthropy, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the fall. A year-long event titled 10 Ways to Give Back has the women attorneys supporting and participating in community service events throughout 2019. Shake the Merc marks the second of  their 10 events.

Chuhak & Tecson combined its social, wellness and philanthropic efforts a few years ago into the FunFitnessFilanthropy Committee. Now, employees have the opportunity to develop and contribute to the Firm in a way that brings them together for fun activities such as Battle of the Paddles and game nights, wellness activities such as walking and weight loss challenges, and giving-back events that support our community
