At-will employment and employment contracts

Illinois is an at will employment state, which means that most employment relationships are terminable by either the employer or the employee without required notice for any reason, other than an improper one, such as membership in a protected class or in retaliation for the exercise of a protected right. Some employment relationships, however, are governed by employment contracts. Our employment lawyers are experienced in drafting and interpreting those contracts and counseling both employees and employers on their employment rights.
