Best practices in governance

Nothing can be more frustrating as a director or trustee of a not for profit or mission-based organization than feeling like you are not able to actively contribute to the organization reaching its goals. Our attorneys provide training to directors and trustees of not for profit and mission-based organizations on best governance practices, which includes implementing a system of policy-based governance and clearly delineating between the Board of Directors' role as a policy maker and the President/CEO/Executive Director’s role in managing the organization. In addition to providing training, our attorneys work with the Board of Directors to review and revise the not for profit or mission-based organization’s bylaws so that the bylaws allow the Board of Directors to carry out their roles effectively.
