Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. proudly announces that Jessica Cooper has joined the firm as a principal in the Real Estate practice group. She brings with her common-sense counsel, extensive experience and deep insights that have facilitated the efficient and expeditious consummation of countless commercial real estate transactions.

“Jessica is a tested and proven deal-closer who appreciates how much is at stake for her clients and acts like it,” says Bobby Strauss, principal and leader of Chuhak & Tecson’s Real Estate practice group. “She’s exceptionally well-versed in the law, of course, but as important, she understands the practical, financial and market realities involved in commercial real estate decisions and transactions.”

Across a wide range of asset classes, including retail, industrial and multifamily properties, Cooper works with institutional and individual clients on acquisitions, dispositions, financing and leasing transactions. She is particularly well-versed in sophisticated commercial leasing matters, having shepherded the negotiation, drafting and consummation of countless leases in the retail, office and industrial spaces. These include leases with national credit tenants, leases nuanced by issues related to new-construction components, ground leases and retail leases with numerous applicable exclusive and prohibited uses. Additionally, Cooper is skilled in drafting and analyzing complex declarations of covenants, conditions and restrictions, as well as easement agreements.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such an accomplished group of real estate practitioners,” Cooper says. “There is such a collegial atmosphere here, and that translates into a cohesive, collaborative team that can effectively handle any transaction, engagement or issue for our clients.”

Cooper is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
