Olive Wassen is an associate in the Estate Planning & Asset Protection, Trust Administration & Litigation and the Elder Law practice groups. She focuses her practice on estate and trust administration, guardianship matters, estate planning and long-term care planning. Olive is passionate about this area of law and she believes it is a privilege to be able to champion her clients in caring for their estate, their loved ones and their own needs.
Olive brings a thoughtful, client-centered approach to estate planning, trust and estate administration, adult guardianship and long-term care planning. She is dedicated to helping clients find peace of mind, providing support and clear communication through difficult transitions and unforeseen circumstances.
Olive recognizes that clients often seek her guidance during challenging and emotionally significant times and she prioritizes empathy and respect in every interaction. In her adult guardianship practice, Olive focuses on respecting the autonomy and dignity of the individual. Having gone through an adult guardianship process with her own family member, Olive understands the need for support and teamwork throughout the entirety of the process.
Before joining Chuhak & Tecson, Olive practiced at a boutique law firm focusing on estate and trust administration and elder law matters where she represented both individuals and corporate fiduciaries.
Olive is a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (IL NAELA) and is a member of two of the IL NAELA committees. She is a member of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. Olive is also an active member of the Chicago Bar Association and a member of the Probate Practice Committee, the Young Lawyers Section Estate Planning Committee and the Elder & Disability Law Committee. Outside of the field of law, Olive is deeply passionate about supporting and volunteering her time with the Lupus Society of Illinois, where she is a member of multiple committees and sits on the Associate Board.
Away from the office, Olive enjoys traveling, trying new local restaurants, spending time with her family and reading. As a transplant to Chicago, Olive is particularly fond of the arts the city has to offer and enjoys spending her weekends seeing shows, visiting art exhibits and listening to live music.
