Edmond Burke is a Principal in the firm's Banking Group. As practice group leader of the Banking group, with 22 attorneys located in Chicago and New York, he oversees an experienced and highly responsive team of transactional and litigation attorneys and staff committed to a range of needs of our financial institution clients. Ed focuses his practice on bankruptcy law and the representation of financial institutions in a wide variety of restructuring and insolvency matters.
With prior experience working in the banking industry and more than a decade of experience representing banks, Ed advises secured and unsecured lenders on loan workouts, reorganizations, asset sales and commercial mortgage foreclosures. He possesses intricate knowledge of complex bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 11 filings, confirmations and hearings. Ed also has experience representing banks in Article 3 and Article 4 matters arising under the Uniform Commercial Code.
Ed works with banks of all sizes and can often be found in court litigating on behalf of his clients. The attorney-client relationship is important to him, and he makes it a point to develop and maintain close relationships with his clients. A hands-on attorney, he handles the majority of his casework from start to finish, including directing legal strategy, appearing in court and handling day to day operations and issues as they arise.
Ed formerly served as chair of Chuhak & Tecson's Recruitment Committee and as a member of the Compensation and Finance Committees.
He was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine from 2010 to 2013, among 2.5 percent of attorneys in Illinois. He was selected as a Leading Lawyer in 2013.
