Jill Benz

Jill works with the firm’s Estate & Trust Administration & Litigation group to help make the probate process easier and more efficient for clients.

Jill has experience in all areas of estate and trust administration, including assisting with asset transfers and preparing draft pleadings, complex accountings and estate tax returns for large estates.

Prior to joining Chuhak & Tecson in 2001, Jill worked for a sole practitioner in a range of functions that included accounting and paralegal work. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice and a double minor in French and legal studies (paralegal program) from Illinois State University.


Laura Cahill

Laura supports the firm’s Aviation Litigation & Transactions group where she focuses on aviation data management and trial preparation.

With over 20 years of experience, Laura works closely with aviation attorneys to assist in managing all aspects of litigation support, including preparation of reports, draft motions and pleadings, exhibit and witness preparation, database document management, deposition indexing and internal and client reports.

Before joining Chuhak & Tecson in 2004, Laura gained valuable experience working as a paralegal for 12 years at both law and financial services firms. An Illinois accredited paralegal, Laura is a member of the Illinois Paralegal Association. She earned a bachelor of science degree in paralegal studies from Winona State University.


Gwen Federman

Gwen works with the Banking group reviewing documents and preparing drafts of pleadings for residential and commercial foreclosures.

Prior to joining Chuhak & Tecson, Gwen gained valuable experience in a variety of legal areas, including assisting with immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications for naturalization, and drafting complaints for residential mortgage foreclosures in Cook County. She also has significant experience preparing for patent litigation cases in federal court, including preparing drafts of pleadings and summary judgment motions, assisting in the management of discovery and preparing for depositions.

After earning a bachelor of arts degree in hospitality business from Michigan State University, Gwen worked in the hospitality industry for five years. In 2009 she received a post-baccalaureate certificate in paralegal studies, with honors, from Loyola University Chicago.


Steven Knor

Steve works primarily with the firm’s Real Estate group where he focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions.

In addition to preparing draft documents and attending real estate closings under the supervision of attorneys, Steve works closely with title and survey companies. He also supports the firm’s Banking group, assisting with foreclosures and deeds in lieu of foreclosures, as well as assisting the Estate Planning & Asset Protection and Estate & Trust Administration & Litigation groups with real estate transfers.

Steve has 14 years of experience in the sale or purchase of real estate. He received his paralegal certificate from American Institute for Paralegal Studies.


Elizabeth O’Loughlin

Liz works with the firm’s Banking and Real Estate groups assisting attorneys in preparing draft documents for residential and commercial closings. She also supports the group by ordering and reviewing minutes of foreclosure, preparing draft settlement agreements and all documents needed for deed in lieu of foreclosure transactions, and coordinating closings for banking and other clients.

Liz has been a certified paralegal since 1987. Prior to joining Chuhak & Tecson, she worked as an in-house paralegal for a mortgage company and property developer. She is a graduate of Roosevelt University’s paralegal studies program and is a member of the Illinois Paralegal Association.


Krisi Swafford

Krisi supports several practice groups–Estate Planning & Asset Protection, Estate & Trust Administration & Litigation, Corporate Transactions & Business Law and Tax & Employee Benefits.

With over 27 years of experience in the legal field, Krisi works with corporate attorneys in such areas as formations, agreements, filings, resolutions, amendments, reinstatements, mergers, dissolutions and all other annual compliance documentation. Her estate planning and administration work includes preparing drafts of wills and trusts and assisting with time management of estates, asset protection matters and estate and gift tax return preparation.

Krisi has been a certified paralegal since 1997 and is a member of the Illinois Paralegal Association. She received her associate of science in paralegal studies, with honors, from American Military University. In addition, Krisi has completed over 100 hours of real estate courses and is currently pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in sociology.
